The Wheeler Centre : Books, Writing, Ideas is a new cultural institution due to open at the State Library of Victoria in Melbourne this month. The centre, named after the founders of Lonely Planet travel guides, will become a hub for Victoria's literary and publishing community, dedicated to the discussion and practice of writing and ideas through a year-round programme of talks, lectures, readings and debates. The centre will also house the Melbourne Writers' Festival, Victorian Writers' Centre, Australian Poetry Centre and Emerging Writers' Festival.
