Get Reading! (formerly Books Alive) is a nationwide government initiative developed through the Australia Council for the Arts. Central to the promotion is the FREE 50 Books You Can't Put Down Guide which showcases guaranteed great reads for everyone including lovers of fiction, crime, history and biography as well as books for young people.
This month Get Reading! celebrates its 10th birthday with a nationwide program of author events and almost 200,000 free books to give away. You can catch Anita Shreve at the Wheeler Centre on the 15th and Liz Byrski at Malvern Library on the 27th.
